CoinDesk Indices and cryptocurrency investment firm CoinFund have jointly launched a benchmark that tracks ethereum collateralization rates and brings the gear institutional investors expect into the digital asset. According to a statement on Thursday, the Composite Ether Staking Rate (CESR) will be calculated and published seven days a week. It takes into account block rewards, new emissions, transaction fees, maximum extractable value (MEV), protocol slash, and withdrawals. "Our partnership with CoinFund creates such an infrastructure for the crypto asset market, and with our experience managing the world's longest-running and largest benchmark crypto indices, we are excited to launch CESR, which is the cornerstone of crypto-based finance. The launch of the CESR helps create market infrastructure to allow for forward rate curves and discount rates, the backbone of traditional finance (TradFi) used to value assets, and to allow digital assets to be priced against the CESR.
