BRICS members need to consider issuing digital currencies

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that there will be no substitutes for the fiat currencies of the BRICS members in the future and that the countries of the bloc need to consider their digital form, as well as the digital currencies issued by the bloc as a whole.
Medvedev pointed out that the euro, which has become less resistant to external influences, has begun to lose its role as a universal means of payment. Europe is therefore likely to return to a "system of financial patchwork with national currencies".
