In short, the lesser commission is given out to the down liners, the more Amazon make.
In exploring many online business that requires minimal capital, ease of operation, profitability, among others, trading by far is the best option that I have discovered. You may disagree, no problem.
While in affiliate marketing, there is no need to carry physical inventories, you get paid only when someone clicks and purchase the item. That means on your end, there is marketing work, persuasion, etc to be done. In trading, I only need to convince myself the buy/sell trade is OK, employ my SL and off I go. I am accountable to myself and not anyone.
Yes, I do pay commission as well but compared to the profits I made, this is regarded as costs of business. Depending on your strategy, there are ways to overcome this as well.
And I have come to terms that TRADING may not be for everyone though I am surprised some whom I deemed to be more financial savvy or risk takers are averse to even try out trading. Well, to each his own. With the Stay at home policy now for everyone and loss of jobs everywhere, I think this is a great time to pick up this life skills. Even if you try it on a demo account for 3 months, you would learn something useful.
My only regrets is not starting earlier and being a late adopter. Nevertheless, better late than never.
For Amazon, I am still bullish on this counter for the long term. Now, I am awaiting for a pennant or bull flag pattern to form before considering to add more long positions.

Some people were saying that because of the lockdown, that is why sales of Amazon is skyrocketing. Really ? Think about it ? Sure, there are things like entertainment, hanging out at bars, watching concerts, movies, etc or dining out with family and friends that Amazon cannot replace. But Amazon sells a wide range of products and services that caters to different needs of people. There will still a group of people who are afraid to go out to spend money post Covid-19 and rather be safe and stay at home. He would find it safe to buy things online from Amazon. Maybe, sales might come down a little but not a lot, imo.
Let's review it in Q2 and see how it performs.
