Australia's adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.3% in August 2019 from 5.2% in the previous four months and in line with market expectations. This is the highest unemployment rate since August last year.

Employment changes in Australia decreased to 34.7 thousand from 41.1 thousand the previous month but exceeded the market expectations of 10.0 thousand. Full-time job change decreased to 15.5 thousand from 34.5 thousand the previous month, while part-time employment increased 50.2 thousand.
