What is BTC.D?
Bitcoin dominance is the ratio between the market cap of Bitcoin to the total market cap of the entire cryptocurrency market. When we compare this ratio to the trend of Bitcoin itself, we can learn more about what opportunities the current market environment offers.
1. As dominance dies, BTC price rises (2017 run)
2. As dominance starts to rise again BTC price dies again after a big run (2018 to 20201)
3. Everyone expecting BTC price to rise again if dominance increases but we have seen this in not the case in the past… (2021 run)
4. If dominance breaks into new lows meaning less people holding Bitcoin we could see Bitcoin price rise on low volume, and alts run more as people transfer money between BTC and alts.
