Bears become especially active towards the end of summer, eating as much as possible in preparation for winter.

To make it through the long denning period, bears need to increase their body weight by up to 30%.

The next 6 to 8 weeks until September / October is the peak time for human-bear interactions.

After spending 5 long months hibernating without food, hungry bears emerge from their dens in spring to search for food and assert their dominance over the animal kingdom.

Now that the first snow has fallen, bears enter their dens - fat from feasting through the summer and ready for a deep, long rest until next summer.
