Gold is rising along with Bitcoin and other crypto currencies while most major world currencies are weakening. We can see that trend with Litecoin for example over the past several months here:
However, when we change the x axis and shift the time frame left towards further back in time, we can see the extreme volatility of cryptos. While over the past three months crytpos have gained against most major currencies and gold, over the past year cryptos like Bitcoin has dramatically weakened against major currencies in terms of percentage. Overall, beta is too high for institutional investors to consider cyrptos as an alternative to gold or traditional assets like US treasuries. So while most major currencies are weakening against gold since concerns of economic slowdown are causing a bit of movement out of equities towards more safe haven assets, cryptos will probably not in the immediate future be considered safe haven assets. Again, this is due to their volatility which probably won't change anytime soon.
