Dow Jones during each Presidential Era

Updated
Rough chart depicting presidential eras and percentage gains for each, for perspective.

Keep in mind that:

- policies persist beyond presidential term completion, some of which may affect the market for decades to come.
- dates are on Jan 20th on the daily chart, then zoomed out to weekly
- growth is measured from the high to high, or high to low (in the one case of a downtrend), and starting from the same ending point for each president
- allow for a margin of error on where start and end dates were snapped when measuring growth due to zooming out to weekly and not getting perfect accuracy on Jan 20th start dates.
- shorter term length during previous presidency doesn't allow as much time for growth as 8 year presidents had
Note
Strongest growth occurred during presidencies known for accomplishing more in terms of having both parties working together, especially HW Bush and Clinton.

One could posit from this that bipartisanship is good for economic growth.
