Having the right recipes can get you to success quickly. If you wanted to recreate for your friends and family the tongue-tantalizing taste of the spaghetti and meatballs from your favorite Italian restaurant, there are many ways to go about it. You could go to Italy and study Italian cooking for months. You could go to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and study for years to get a degree in Italian cooking. You could try recipe after recipe searching for the secret sauce. Or, maybe you could wait until a Sunday when the chef worked a twelve-hour shift, and as you see him walking wearily to his car, approach him and say, “Hey, Chef, I love your spaghetti and meatballs. I’m not in your business and I’ll never be a competitor, I just want to make your spaghetti and meatballs for my family, and truthfully, I don’t want to waste any time. Could I give you $100 and you give me the recipe?”
