I see this argument often, and to anyone who see's this, I want to explain what I believe is the reason that so many people are Tesla Bulls.
The fundamental difference between an investor and an innovator is this:
- Innovators offer dreams that turn into ideas and use those ideas to provide solutions to real world problems. - Most investors lack the ability to innovate; moreover, are motivated by greed if they cannot understand the dream. - Investors support innovators by providing capital, thereby allowing them to execute their ideas by experimenting, designing, refining and finally providing a product to solve real world problems.
So, then the real value of Tesla is the "Dream" and not profits. People resonate with this far more than any amount of money, when you think of the power to change a nation, gain independence, land on the moon, obtain civil rights, or win a war.....it is the "Dream".
As Martin Luther King said - "I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."
Tesla is a result of a growing number of people who are tired of true capitalistic greed that halts progress. Its a push to a greener future, an acceleration of battery and energy storage technology, a push to renewable energy, a push to a more autonomous age, a push beyond the combustion engine that has not changed fundamentally in the last 100 years, and eventually a push to the stars.
And this is why you "Bears" are wrong about Tesla being "Overvalued", a "Bubble", and a company with "Zero" value. Because, these dreams have reached the people who will see it become a reality.
