The moon and sixpence

What is the trend? What is their amplitude usually? How long do they last?

Dow defines three concurrent trends (short-term trends, lasting from a few days to a few weeks; Medium term trend, lasting from weeks to months; Long-term trend, lasting from months to years)

I grouped the historical price movements of the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Dow Jones Transportation (railroad) index, logged their magnitude (the percentage of price action relative to a previous high or low) and duration (the number of days in which the price action continued), and plotted the statistical distribution.

Based on Rhea's classification (and some of my corrections), I divide moves into major moves (long or short markets), intermediate major moves (a major move between two secondary retractions), intermediate secondary correction moves (important intermediate moves against the major moves), Add in other, less important categories (the most difficult part of the program is distinguishing minor retractions from minor countermoves).
