Occidentalpetroleum
Buffett is just one step away from skyrocketing to the Moon 🚀Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway just snapped up more Occidental Petroleum shares, pushing the legendary investor's stake in the oil company to just over 25%.
Buffett's conglomerate purchased another 2.1 million shares of Occidental in the past week when the stock traded at $57.89, an amount worth $123 million in total, according to a recent Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Berkshire now owns 224 million shares of the oil producer worth $13 billion. That represents just over quarter of Occidental's entire value, with a total market cap of $52.56 billion.
Buffett has been vocal about his bullishness on Occidental Petroleum, snapping up big chunks of the stock over the past year as oil and natural gas prices skyrocketed in the aftermath of Russia - Ukraine tensions.
And though Buffett has said he has no interest in taking over Occidental, Berkshire gained approval from regulators to potentially own up to 50% of the company last August.
Energy prices, meanwhile, have eased from their highs last summer, but analysts have said prices are in for another surge later in the year, especially if China's economic reopening leads to a big upswing in oil demand.
Moreover El Niño is here. Commodity prices could swing in turmoil.
OXY Occidental Petroleum Options Ahead of EarningsIf you haven`t bought OXY before the last run:
Then analyzing the options chain and the chart patterns of OXY Occidental Petroleum prior to the earnings report this week,
I would consider purchasing the 60usd strike price Calls with
an expiration date of 2024-5-17,
for a premium of approximately $2.32.
If these options prove to be profitable prior to the earnings release, I would sell at least half of them.
Occidental Petroleum formed 2 strong bullish patternsIn the last few months we've seen two bullish formations.
W Formation first and recently a Cup & handle.
The price has broken above the neckline and brim level, and now the price seems to be retracing to a conservative level of entry.
With the higher lows and clear signs of demand, it looks like this market is poised for growth.

Occidental Petroleum: The Bulls are back! 🐂In the Occidental Petroleum chart, bulls have displayed renewed strength since early September, which needs to be sustained. The turquoise wave B is expected to reach higher, stopping just shy of the $77.13 resistance level. Following this peak, substantial declines are anticipated, potentially dropping below $54.35. Should the price manage to break above the resistance, though we deem it only 34% likely, it would overshoot the turquoise wave alt.B. However, this doesn't alter the bearish outlook that follows.
Is It Time to Follow the Oracle's Lead? You may have heard of a certain Warren Buffett, and it seems like he might be onto something...
Buffett, known as the "Oracle of Omaha," has demonstrated remarkable investment timing, or perhaps an innate ability to steer investment flows. This was clearly illustrated by his investment in Japan, which triggered a rally in the Nikkei to decade-long highs. While that window may have closed, Buffett has been discreetly bolstering his stake in another entity - Occidental Petroleum (OXY).
If we scrutinize the timing of his purchases, it's apparent that Buffett likely had a price floor in mind. Intriguingly, his first purchase occurred when Crude was trading at a 15-year high!
This leads us to examine Oil, which has been trading nearly 40% lower since mid-2022.
Since our last discussion about oil, the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) has been further depleted, reaching its lowest level since 1983. The result of this drawdown is a diminished impact on energy costs as evidenced by the energy inflation index, which has not only passed its peak but has now turned negative.
Interestingly, the Canadian dollar and the Norwegian Krone, currencies of major oil-exporting countries, have been outpacing the commodity typically correlated with them, Crude Oil.
On the whole, it seems the energy commodity sector may have bottomed out, with all types of Oil and natural gas trading on an upward trajectory.
In consideration of these factors, the outlook for oil leans towards the bullish side. The scarcity of oil in the SPR and the absence of energy inflation as a significant contributor to overall CPI make it unlikely for the U.S. to release more oil to depress energy prices. Coupled with the buoyant trend in the energy commodity space and the recent outperformance of major oil-exporting countries' currencies, it appears to be an opportune moment to consider a long position on oil. At the current price level of 72.33, risk managed trade points to setting the stops at the previous support of 66 and take profit level at 85. Each Crude Oil Future contract is equal to 1000 barrels of crude oil. Each 0.01 point increment in Crude Oil Futures is equal to 10 USD . The same view can also be expressed with greater precision using the Micro WTI Crude Oil, where each Micro contract is equal to 100 barrels of crude oil and each 0.01 point increment is equal to 1 USD.

Running Low on OXY?Running Low On OXY?
I believe we will be "running low on oxy" over the next few days or weeks.
A head and shoulders pattern was identified on the daily in confluence with 2 rising support trendlines. OXY broke below the neckline of the head and shoulders pattern on Friday, February 3, 2023. Furthermore, the daily chart shows an increase of sellers at the break of the neckline.
Therefore, I'd be interested in shorting OXY if it holds below the neckline AND breaks below the 2 rising support lines (for further confirmation). The level of interest is 60.

Based off of this i think Occidental Petroleum will be coming back down to $35.00

Bullish on Occidental Petroleum. We are not in the business of getting every prediction right, no one ever does and that is not the aim of the game. The Fibonacci targets are highlighted in green with invalidation in red. Fibonacci goals, it is prudent to suggest, are nothing more than mere fractally evident and therefore statistically likely levels that the market will go to. Having said that, the market will always do what it wants and always has a mind of its own. Therefore, none of this is financial advice, so do your own research and rely only on your own analysis. Trading is a true one man sport. Good luck out there and stay safe!
