Rolling (IRA): TLT Feb 21st 100 Calls to the 95 Calls... for a 1.09 credit.
Comments: Looked at all my options here for the rolling of the short call aspect of my covered calls -- rolling down, rolling down and out, rolling out as is, rolling to shorter duration and down ... . Going with rolling down in the same expiry for a 1.09 credit.
Resulting cost basis: 89.11.
It still remains a bet that the Fed will cut rates at some point, just with lower max profit potential.
Rolling
Rolling (IRA): TLT June 21st 86 Short Put to Nov 15th 83... for a .55 credit.
Comments: With the June 86 at greater than 50% max, rolled it down and out to the November 15th 83 for a .55 credit (where I currently don't have a "rung" on). I collected .93 for the June 86; with the .55 here, I've collected a total of 1.18.
Primarily looking to reduce a smidge of risk in this position, since my highest strike is at the 86.
Rolling (IRA): TLT Nov 17th 92 to March 15th 92 Short Put... for a .97 credit.
Comments: Alas, this could not be meaningfully strike improved, so just rolling it out as is. The deeper the in-the-money it is, the farther out in time you have to go to get paid something decent ... . Collected .79 originally (See Post Below) plus the .97 here for a total of 1.76.
Rolling (IRA): TLT Nov 17th 94 to April 19th 94 Short Put... for an .85 credit.
Comments: Another that can't be meaningfully strike improved without paying a debit ... . Collected .75 originally (See Post Below). With the .85 here, 1.60 total.
And that ... ends the November contract housekeeping portion of our show. Unfortunately, I'll probably have to do some more of this in the December contract (ugh).
Rolling (IRA): TLT November 3rd 88 Short Put to January 19th 87... for a .42 credit.
Comments: Received an .88 credit for the 88 (See Post Below); rolling it down and out for a .42 credit. Total credits collected of 1.30.
If I'm going to get assigned, lower is naturally better, even if it's only a strike ... .
Rolling (IRA): XBI November 17th 71 Short Put to January 19th 70... for a .65 credit.
Comments: Originally opened this for .77 (See Post Below); rolling down and out for a .65 credit. Total credits collected of 1.42.
I may still get assigned, but at a slightly better price than were I to just have left it alone.
Rolling (IRA): TLT Nov 17th 86 Short Put to Dec 15th 85... for a .32 credit.
Comments: Rolling down and out where it makes sense; out "as is" where it doesn't. Collected .83 originally (See Post Below). With the .32 here, 1.15 total.
I'm generally looking to try to avoid taking on shares above my current cost basis for the shares I've been assigned already and/or to take on shares at the best possible price that the market allows.
Rolling (IRA): SPY April 21st 368 Short Put to May 19th 361... for an .83 credit.
Comments: More mopex housekeeping that I did toward the close. Strikes at <16 delta in April are no longer paying, so rolling this out to April for a realized gain and an .83 credit. Total credits collected of 3.80 (See Post Below) plus the .83 credit here for a total of 4.63.
Rolling (IRA): QQQ April 21st 257 to the 266 Short Put... for a .88 credit.
Comments: Rolling up for a realized gain to the <16 delta strike paying around 1% of the strike price in credit. Total credits collected of 2.62 (See Post Below) plus the .88 here for 3.50 ($350). I usually like to do this at 50% max, so this is more in the nature of housekeeping/taking profit where I can.
Rolling (Margin): XOP Dec 16th 127C/147P to Jan 20th 130C/147P... for a 3.67 credit.
Comments: Rolling for a realized gain with this down move. There was no 127 strike, so rolled the short call to the 130 and the short put "as is." Total credits collected of 28.47 on a 17 wide inverted. Resulting delta/theta -38.14/15.30 with 13.43 of extrinsic, so I'm indicating here that it's a "short" position.
Still looking at this for tax loss harvest, but wanted to give it an additional chance running into year's end to make something of itself.
Rolling (Margin): XOP November 18th 127 Short Straddle... to the December 16th 128C/133P inverted short strangle for a 4.02 credit.
Comments: Rolling out at 21 days to go to reduce "random" assignment risk on the short call. Total credits collected of 21.96.
I've gone slightly inverted here as well as improved the short call strike a smidge to keep the short delta metrics similar to what they would be were I to be in a covered put with a 40 delta short leg. This results in delta/theta -60.27/15.68 with a call side break even off 149.96. A "perfect" finish would be in between the strikes, but I'm looking to basically scratch this out or make something small on it.
