LUV is loving the summer vacation travel LONGLUV has been in a persistent trend up for a couple of months after lackluster earnings were
reported in early May with another due on July 27th. The airports have been quite busy
with vacation travel and Southwest has been part of that action. On the 1H chart, price has
been supported by the line two standard deviations above the mean anchored VWAP which
shows persistent relative strength in a rise of over 25% over two months. Price above the
POC line of the volume profile is another sign of buyer dominance. The MACD indicator show
the lines in parallel and above a positive histogram. The relative volatility indicator shows
sufficient volatility to support momentum trading.
I will take a long trade going into earnings. I will do this with ten call options contracts
with a strike at $40 expiring on July 28th. On the last trading day, this contract had
a low of $ 0.36 and a high of $0.48 for a range of 33% in a single day. I expect similar
price action as the earnings date approaches. I expect to pay about $480 for ten contracts
and the profit expectation is 100% over the next 15 trading days.

RSI : Has been moving into a band between 31.00 and 55.00
PRICE : Has been steadily moving up after bouncing twice around $30, testing the 100MA signal resistance below the 200MA both signals moving south, allowing space to meet both 100MA Signal and Price around the $36 to test it and eventually keep moving up to test the 200MA resistance around the $40, which is the optimistic approach.

I enjoy analyzing charts and have come across this interesting idea that I would like to share for discussion.
After our March - May crash I spot a quick trend to completion followed by a typical zig zag (5-3-5) counter trend. If this idea proves true I see us continue another trendy move and enter a long wave 5 in orange and wave 3 in black. Seems like this could be a long wide wave as airlines try their best to recover from our recent lows. With talk of stimulus and airline bailout plus southwest having a notoriously conservative balance sheet I see Southwest getting back to normal quicker than their competition. Personally will be looking to DCA over the next couple of months.

$LUV potential long term value playThe airlines industry seems to have found a bottom over the past couple of months while the general market has rallied.
It may be a good idea to start accumulating positions in some of these potential long term value plays before a possible sector rotation into the airlines industry.
Here $LUV broke out of its falling wedge and the pullback gave us:
1) Support of the trendline
2) A higher low
3) Reclamation of the 8EMA and 21 EMA
If it can clear and hold the 200 EMA I will start scaling into medium and long term calls.
Another good indication would be similar plays in other airline stocks such as $JETS, $DAL, $UAL, $AAL et al.

Southwest(LUV) is the only airline that as of today with positive cash flow(2.96 Billion). Spirit Airlines(SAVE) is classify as a cheap convenient airline books only have -2.79 billion in debt(This can be forgiven or refinanced overnight with gov aid)

LUV - SouthwestFollowing the channel down smoothly and having the sudden spike in price is being followed by a move back down. From the high of the short bear rally price has already retraced 50% of its gains. Making its way towards the .382 value to make the next test on that range. Looking to see for a potential low area underneath for target range
$AAL EPS Projection = -$2.47 / Falling WedgeI will be looking for $AAL to follow this falling wedge downwards and likely lag till earnings. Earnings may cause more downside.
Wall Street Journal EPS Projection: -$1.83
More realistic EPS: -$2.47
I believe revenue projections are heavily understated as shown by Ford.
$UAL has quarterly revenues under 10 billion and predicted a revenue loss in march alone at 1.5 billion . $AAL I am betting will have lost more revenue than 1.5 billion in March.
If we take into account $UAL projecting losses of 1.5billion in March when their revenue is under 10 billion a quarter it is safe to say that $AAL would lose 1.5 billion in revenue as well, which is generous because they could have lost more.

Expected losses in revenue for March: 1.5 billion
Expected Operating revenue for March: 2.085 billion.
Net income in March: -1.3billion
200 mill + 200 mill -1.3billion - 158 million = -1.058 billion before taxes
No clue how this loss would be taxed, so let's just leave that alone, but this means their real net income after tax will be worse than -1.058 billion
-1.058 billion / 428.2million weighted outstanding shares = -$2.47 EPS or worse.
This is important because a normal falling wedge like this would break towards the upside, however if earnings are truly this bad I believe there may be more downside.

Southwest Airlines is a potential gem in this market as trade wars with China escalate. As Boeing ramps up production of their Max jets, Southwest also ramps up their flights as they are a primary user of the Boeing Max jets. Southwest did beat their earnings, however fell a little short on revenue, but if this is any indication towards Q3 earnings, I would feel bullish as these Boeing jets become more available. Southwest is also increasing their Hawaiian travel routes so this is great fundamental news for the airline!

Where is LUV?Southwest airlines made a news today so thought take a peek. It's gone. For next few weeks to months LUV will have choppy trade. Those who are good in options strategies like butterfly, condor etc (some one who is pro and can advantages of choppy sidewise trade) make a lots of money for sure. Once they break the black line after choppy noisy trade look for the 1stgreen line for next support zone. Red line for now will act as resistance. Anything touching that line is a short.
It will easily go 2009 low guys!!!! :)
