Bonds Retrace from our LevelBonds hit resistance at 111'26, dipping back to support at 110'27. We anticipated this in our reports yesterday. It is likely we will continue the sideways correction from here, bound between these two levels. If ZN can break out, then 113'12 is the next target. We expect 110'05 to be a floor for now.

Bonds Recover After CPIBonds took a dive to break lows and hit our target of 110'05. A green triangle on the KRI confirmed support and we immediately the dip was immediately bought back, and we recovered the range between 110'27 and 111'26. We are currently hugging the upper bound of this range. The move followed yet another hotter than expected CPI print and a slump in retail sales. The Kovach OBV is slumping, so we expect the range to hold as the markets digest this data.
Bond Market Continues to Price In Hawkish FedBonds have picked up slightly edging above 115'29. ZN had teetered about this level, breaking below it yesterday, but finding support. We did make a run for the next level at 116'20, but rejected this level, and found support again at 115'20. There is a stronger chance of a 75bps rate hike, which is pushing up yields. If we fall further, then 115'03 is the next target.
Employment Data Hammers BondsBonds crept up but are facing resistance. After ZN tested highs at 121'28, and retraced, it started to establish value between 119'23 and 121'00. The latter has provided prohibitive resistance, as we have discussed this week, and we have seen a rejection, continuing the sideways correction. We saw a wick down to 119'23, where we found support, at first, but we subsequently broke through to the vacuum zone below. This follows Non Farm Payrolls coming in at a surprise beat, with unemployment at 3.5%. Expect support at 119'01.
Bonds Break OutBonds have lifted, breaking out of the narrow range held for the past three days. We broke the upper bound at 120'14, and hit our next target exactly at 121'00, as predicted. We are seeing red triangles on the KRI suggesting that we are facing resistance here. The Kovach OBV has picked up, suggesting genuine momentum may be back. If so, the next target is 121'28. If we retrace, we should have strong support from 120'14 and 119'23.
Sideways Correction in BondsBonds are oscillating in the narrow range between 117'19 and 119'01. The Kovach OBV has leveled off, suggesting there is little momentum at the moment to move then needle either way. We appear to be in a sideways corrective phase, after topping out at 120'14, then retracing to 117'19. If we catch more momentum, we could test highs again at 120'14. If 117'19 does not hold, watch for support at 117'08 and 116'20.
Bond Yields Soar as APAC Prices in CPI and Fed's ReactionBonds have gotten slammed as yields have soared, smashing through several levels below when we've reported last, as the APAC session prices in CPI data from Friday. We smashed expectations for inflation and investors are rushing to price in the Fed's reaction. Barclays thinks that they will raise rates by 75 bps in order to counter these soaring numbers. We sliced through the 117's with ease and are finally finding support at the base of the 116 handle. We have projected another level of support at 115'29 using inverse Fibonacci extension levels since we've simply run out of support levels for the US ten year. The Kovach OBV is abysmally bearish, however we do appear to be finally leveling off a bit, so perhaps this level will hold. If not, expect resistance from 116'20.
Bonds Test Higher LevelsBonds have edged up higher, with ZN hitting our target of 121'00. This is a strong psychological and technical level. We are seeing a bit of a divergence between the price action and the Kovach OBV so unless more momentum comes thorugh, anticipate a dip or some ranging between 120'14 and 121'00. If we dip further, 119'23 should provide support. If we are able to break out further, then we have a fairly wide vacuum zone to the next level and target at 121'28.
