Bounced off 50 EMA multiple times showing good downside support. CCI is also trending up going from bearish to bullish.
2 Months time on these options I would recommend a vertical spread to keep theta at bay especially after earnings when IV will drop reducing the price of the options if you expect to hold this past earning.
The stock dose have the tendency to fall after earnings most of the times and rally after.
I would wait for confirmation of break of the $73.95 level and possibly a close above this level to start a position.
Got multiple mentions on CNBC today and has already traded up with some volume coming in.
Support 50 EMA $70.95
Resistance $73.80
Target 75.21, 77.03, 78.22, 81.33
SL close below 50 EMA

VLO
VLO to break out, target 72.00Break out from the descending wedge looks imminent, after weeks' consolidating in a tight range.
Current position: None (as already heavy in PSX)
Disclaimer: These should be seen as the commentator's Notes to Self. Hopefully educational but aiming for entertaining. No legal or financial liabilities should be pursued from these materials.
VLO - Support Held, Looking LongValero Energy has been consolidating since early December after a pullback. The support level from a prior high established back on April 25th continued to hold as the price is just starting to break out from the level established on November 2, 2018. A purple dotted line will mark where a previous break out attempt failed so all longs will want to see the price successfully take this level out.
Note the bullish divergence with the stock price & the RSI since the stock has begun its consolidation from early December. The slow stochastic is exiting an oversold condition as well.
As stated above I want to see the price get higher than the dotted purple line. Assuming it does that, I have my Fibonacci extension levels noted with the dotted green lines. The dotted blue line is based on a traditional P&F chart using a 3-box reversal along with a value determined from a 20-day ATR.
Earnings are on January 30th BMO, so anyone planning on holding over a month should take that into account.
Crak'n Up - Refiners Are Not At A Level Worth Buying Yet"Refinery stocks are not ripe just yet, especially with crack spreads as weak as they are. We're already seeing three of the top four holdings in CRAK begin to roll over, including Marathon, Velaro, and Holly Frontier. Phillips 66 is the outlier.
We continue to wait for CRAK to reach to range bottom with a confluence of crack spreads. If refiners continue to breakdown, we'll revisit prior to the summer gas demand season."

VLO approaching resistance, potential drop! VLO is approaching resistance at 91.88 (horizontal swing high resistance, 100% fibonacci extension, 38.2% fibonacci retracement) where a strong drop might occur below this level pushing price down to our major support at 78.04 (61.8% fibonacci retracement).
Stochastic (89,5,3) is also approaching resistance where we might see a corresponding drop in price.

VLO has been crushed - its now into support on the daily With the market and oil being sold so heavily, VLO has been crushed and its into support here. It could head a bit lower if oil continues to fall, however, oil is into good support as well. Risk to reward is high here stop will be $78.04. If it pays me well today I may look to exit early. Cant be too greedy in this market.
VLO - Possible Bullish Swing TradeI will be watching VLO over the next few days and may enter a bullish swing trade if I like the setup. What I will be looking for is a bounce one more time off of the 100 SMA. For the most part, I usually only focus on pure price action when determining whether or not to enter a trade but when looking at the fundamentals for VLO combined with the recent pullback I believe VLO is also undervalued at the current price, which could be a catalyst for a move to the upside. To be clear I am not suggesting that anyone should initiate a long trade on VLO tomorrow but should keep VLO on your radar and watch for a possible bullish setup.
GUSH, time to go long? Looking at the chart for GUSH. I am looking for a break above the last high (green dotted line). A move higher should signal a continuation of higher highs and higher lows (red lines). I'll buy with a break above. OIL is looking good and other stocks like RIG and VLO seem to be trending higher. Wait for the break of the green line to confirm, and then set your stop just below it. It must hold.
AXAS set to runAbraksas Pete, AXAS is set to run again. With the weekly chart breaking above the 34sma returns look promising. This stock could run up to the $3 range yielding a nice return. The daily chart and hourly charts also look good. As long as the OIL services sector continues higher AXAS should move higher as well. Others to looks at are GUSH, RIG, DO, VLO. Stay in this one, until you see the stock drop below the 34sma on the daily.
