Stolt-Nielsen Up trendCHXEUR:SNIO
Stolt-Nielsen is in an uptrend, and it just hit bottom. There is a decent profit potential, to little risk, if you have a target at 145 and a stop loss at 110. It is a slow moving stock, and the low volatility should mean, that you don't get to experience any unwanted surprises.
OPEC and Seasonals - SellMarket normally goes into backwardation in FFAs after new years and shipping volumes falls when refineries go into maintenance and cut their crude processing demand. This year, in particular, it should fall even more given the cuts being implemented as per media in the last couple of days. A hot tip to follow the fixtures done is to download VLCC Fixtures (iPhone) from Frontlines own chartering department which provides and overview of cargos/ships/last done. Furthermore, bunker fuel is representative of a large freight cost component which also follows oil upwards and thus is currently putting earnings pressure on all shipping companies. Hence to conclude within jan-feb 2017 this stock should fall to its lows due to OPEC cuts, cost explosion in bunker and seasonal maintenance of refineries, thus the anti-trade of oil short term.
SUBSEA - sell overvalued cash positionSubsea 7 has a big short position by various high-end funds in the SSR registry with the financial authorities of Norway. Technicals look promising having finished a big w-formation while hitting the top in its current channel. Short term double top, with a break of trend seem to chart the course for 100NOK target where first solid resistance come into play. The company has a big cash position which seems to have been a safe bet during times of crises but it's highly likely it has provided a pile in of sector exposures which like will head for a reverse given all the other goodies in the sector now having cleaned up and re-shaped their stock and balance sheets. Short-term put options look cheap (107,50 strikes).
