BHSI rejigs US retail general property management as Johnson promoted to unit head

(The Insurer) - Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has promoted Scott Johnson to head of U.S. retail general property as the carrier reshapes the structure of the division into four Northeast, Southeast, Central and West regions.

BHSI’s U.S. retail general property platform has a broad appetite for business, it has a particular focus on real estate, financial institutions, public entities, hospitals and healthcare facilities, schools, colleges and universities, and manufacturing and retail facilities.

In his new role, New York-based Johnson will oversee all of BHSI’s U.S. retail general property regions, while he will also continue to lead the underwriting of the company’s BH FastCAT parametric insurance offering.

Johnson’s promotion comes 12 years after he joined BHSI. He most recently served the carrier as senior vice president, Eastern region leader.

Supporting Johnson is his new role are four leaders of the Northeast, Southeast, Central, and West regions.

Alison McVeigh has been named senior vice president, head of retail general property, Northeast region, while Jen Rubin will serve as senior vice president, head of retail general property, Central region.

In taking up her new role, Rubin has succeeded Brian Cummins, who will be assuming the position of customer and broker engagement leader for the U.S. Northern Central region.

Cristin Grogan will serve as senior vice president, head of retail general property, Southeast region, with Manny Dewani named senior vice president, head of retail general property, West region.

“Our U.S. property business has seen robust growth as customers and brokers have responded to our customer-first service, financial strength and Claims Is Our Product approach,” said Greg Freeman, head of property, North America, at BHSI.

“As we expand our regional retail general property structure, we can better leverage our depth of talent and expertise and further enhance our service and responsiveness,” Freeman added.
