What is Volatility in the NNFX trading system?
In the NNFX (No Nonsense Forex) trading system, ATR ( Average True Range ) is typically used to measure the volatility of an asset. ATR is calculated by taking the average of the true range values over a specified period.
True range is calculated as the maximum of the following values:
-Current high minus the current low
-Absolute value of the current high minus the previous close
-Absolute value of the current low minus the previous close
ATR is a dynamic indicator that changes with changes in volatility . As volatility increases, the value of ATR increases, and as volatility decreases, the value of ATR decreases. By using ATR in NNFX system, traders can adjust their stop loss and take profit levels according to the volatility of the asset being traded. This helps to ensure that the trade is given enough room to move, while also minimizing potential losses.
Other types of volatility include True Range Double ( TRD ), Close-to-Close, and Garman-Klass
What is a Baseline indicator?
The baseline is essentially a moving average, and is used to determine the overall direction of the market.
The baseline in the NNFX system is used to filter out trades that are not in line with the long-term trend of the market. The baseline is plotted on the chart along with other indicators, such as the Moving Average (MA), the Relative Strength Index ( RSI ), and the Average True Range (ATR).

What is Finite Volume Elements
The Finite Volume Element Indicator ( FVE ) was developed by Markos Katsanos and introduced in the April 2003 issue of Technical Analysis of Stocks & Commodities magazine. It was modified for volatility in the September 2003 issue of TASC.
FVE is a money flow indicator but with two important differences from existing money flow indicators:
It resolves contradictions between intraday money flow indicators (such as Chaikin’s money flow ) and intraday money flow indicators (like On Balance Volume ) by taking into account both intra- and intraday price action.
Unlike other money flow indicators which add or subtract all volume even if the security closed just 1 cent higher than the previous close, FVE uses a volatility threshold to take into account minimal price changes
Other things to note
The GKD trading system requires that a GKD-V indicator be present in the indicator chain, but the GKD-V indicator doesn't need to be active. You can turn on/off the Volatility Ratio as you wish so you can backtest your trading strategy with the filter on or off.

Relative Volume Historical Volatility MCMRelative Volume Historical Volatility
Volume Historical Volatility is relative to it's doubled lookback period of the volume historical volatility to calculate relative volume historical volatility .
Including a standard deviation to calculate the volume volatility value itself is useless. It filters out 32% of the most volatile volume movements of the asset that you are observing.
Example of RVHV:
Period of Volume Volatility Value (POVVV) : 10
Relative Volume Historical Volatility : POVVV / POVVV*2
Historical Volume Volatility of past 10 Bars is compared to the historical volatility of the bast 20 bars to show real growth/decrease of volatility relative to the time of the performing asset.
Comparing historical volume volatility to the current bar includes much more noise, the relative volume historical volatility can be perceived as a smoothed historical volatility ind.
Marginal notes:
Added standard deviations adjusted to the relative volume volatility value to predict probable future volatility of the stock.
VOLatiliUMThis is a useful conjunction of volume and volatility together in one script, so I named it a blended name!
It can show the diagram of:
- Volume
- Volume Variation (Volume - Past Volume)
- Volume Density (Volume / (High - Low))
- Volatility in combination with the aforesaid ones
It also offers two concepts of bar colorizing, by using the size of the bars or by applying volatility from a higher time frame (HTF).
The option "Absolute Bar Values" is included for the ones who like to see all bars positive above the zero line!
