Tell me more about two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication is an extra step to protect your account from hackers. When you enable two-factor authentication, after typing in your password you’ll also need to generate and input a special one-time code each time you login.
There are two ways to receive a one time code for two-factor authentication, which you can use in connection with your TradingView account:
- Generate a code for entry with an authentication generator app (for example, Google Authenticator, Duo Mobile, Authy, or Microsoft Authenticator)
- Receive an SMS with a code for entry in connection with your account. The message will be sent to the phone number you listed upon account verification.
We recommend using authenticator apps, as they’re the more secure and reliable option compared to text messages. SMS messages may not reach certain countries and they can be delayed in their delivery too.
In addition to one-time codes, you’ll have access to a list of backup codes, which will be automatically generated after enabling 2-factor authentication.
Please save these codes and keep them in a safe place so that you don't lose access to your account. For security reasons, TradingView support may not be able to restore access to your account with two-factor authentication enabled if you were to lose your login credentials
