Switching continuous futures contracts
So that you can always see when continuous futures contracts are switching, we have added Contract Switching icons to the chart.
These icons represent the switching dates for continuous futures contracts.
When clicking on the switch icon, a card opens:
On the card, you can see the following information:
- Date – the date from which the next contract will be active;
- From contract – name of the expiring contract;
- To contract – name of the next contract.
If you want to see the chart of the contract, which is indicated on the card, just click on the name of the contract – and the chart will switch to this symbol. To go back, use the undo action with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Z on Windows or ⌘+Z on Mac.
You can disable or enable the display of contract switching icons on the chart in the chart settings, on the Events tab. In the same place, you can turn on the display of vertical separators for the borders of contracts.
Contract switching icons are currently available on continuous futures contracts on all popular exchanges: CME, COMEX, CBOT, NYMEX, NSE, BSE, MCX. They will soon be added for other exchanges.
The rules used to determine the switching date for continuous futures contracts are described in the following article.
