WEED seeks capital growth by actively investing in companies and real estate investment trusts (REITs) that derive at least 50% of their net revenue from the legal cannabis and hemp industry. This includes producers and/or distributors, business to business providers, and business to consumer providers. The fund may hold stocks and depositary receipts of companies of any market capitalization, that operate in emerging, frontier, and developed market countries. The fund may also primarily invest in total return swaps which are utilized to gain exposure to US multi-state operators (MSOs). To identify a universe of cannabis companies, a companys thematic relevance is determined through qualitative factors such as public filings and press releases. The resulting portfolio is weighted on a modified market capitalization basis.
