Nike Set To Lay off 740 Employees at Oregon HeadquartersNike, the world's leading sportswear manufacturer, has announced its plans to lay off around 740 employees at its global headquarters in Oregon. This move aligns with the company's cost-cutting strategy, which was disclosed in December 2023, with the aim of saving $2 billion over the next three years. The second phase of layoffs is expected to commence by the end of June 2025, as the company looks to scale back on specific franchises amidst an uncertain demand scenario.
In compliance with the legal obligation, Michele Adams, Nike's Vice President for People Solutions, has notified the state authorities that the second phase of layoffs would begin at the company's headquarters. Earlier in February, Nike had indicated that it would cut around 2% of its total workforce, which equates to over 1,600 roles. As of May 31, 2023, the company had around 83,700 employees.
Despite the announcement, Nike's shares rose marginally in after-hours trading, although they have declined by nearly 13% this year. Several companies in the U.S. and Canada have announced new rounds of layoffs to curb costs in the face of an uncertain demand environment.
In March, Nike warned that its revenues in the first half of fiscal 2025 would shrink by a low-single-digit percentage. The company's decision to downsize its workforce is part of its strategy to rein in costs, as it navigates through a challenging business environment.

$NKE bulls are in dangerNYSE:NKE is breaking down under a MAJOR multi-YEAR trendline (white) extending all the way from late 2017. This trendline was support and is now resistance. This week, NKE bounced off September 2023 lows and is now the rising white trendline which is acting as resistance.
Bearish setup - if NKE continues to break down the first level of support is at 88.66 which is the September 2023. Interesting, flow indicates traders bought short-term and medium-term $90, $91, and $92 puts. The next major level is October 2022 lows at 82.50. Indeed, flow indicates that $168,265 worth of October 2024 puts were bought on April 10th, 2024.
Bullish setup - if NKE can reclaim the rising white trendline and base above it this would be bullish and signal a false breakdown. If this occurs, the primary target is gap fill of the March 2024 earnings gap down at ~$100.79. Indeed, on Friday April 12th, a trader sold at bid $1.31M worth of April 19th, 2024 puts. Another trader bought $61,500 worth of September 100 calls. Weekly RSI and Williams %R are extremely oversold suggesting NYSE:NKE has the potential to rally if it reclaims the rising white trendline.

$NIKE - Long$NIKE - interesting Trade. COVID pump 2x drop 50%. Still another 30% till COVID lows and 18.5% upside pre covid. NIKE is one of those names who wont vanish for another 50-100 years. It's the legacy US brand. Even a 3yr old can spot the Logo. Definitely in range for long term traders for DCA'ing this from here
NIKE - Just Buy It!Nike tends to have corrective phases every now and then. We are now seeing one of the biggest corrections to date. We could be correcting in excess of 50% which would put us in a great position to buy Nike for the longer term.
Nike is the world's largest supplier of athletic shoes and apparel and a major manufacturer of sports equipment, with revenue in excess of US$46 billion in its fiscal year 2022.
In other words, its very unlikely that Nike will go bust and so any dips should be seen as a buying opportunity.
Our first point of interest is the structure level at 80. Ideally we break below that in accordance Elliott Wave Theory. We want to see wave C go below wave B.
Our ideal buy zone is the 60 level where we have the -27 fib extension. Once we come towards that region, we'll be looking for any bullish price action indicating a reversal and the start of the next massive bullish leg. If we go even lower than 60, then it's more of a reason to buy and load up!
We're looking for targets of atleast 200% as first targets. This trade is one to hold for the long term.
What do you guys think?
Goodluck and as always, trade safe@
nike long idealong position on nike ,
although I realize that opening a position in the middle of a triangle is not at all ideal, I could dare to anticipate a head and shoulder pattern with a target close to the maximums, obviously the uncertain situation on interest rates could influence the trend.
In any case, I believe that Nike is undervalued and it doesn't seem like a risky purchase to me on the long run .
