Get ShortyI never heard about The Merchant of Venice before this morning, but the more I read about it, the more Intrigued I became.
The Merchant of Venice is a 16th-century play written by Shakespeare in which a merchant defaults on a loan provided by a Jewish moneylender, Shylock.
For the purpose of brevity I can't go through the play or all its characters in its entirety right now.
The main antagonist, a Shylock is a relentless and revengeful moneylender that embodies greediness and vengefulness.
One could easily mistake Prime Brokers as the Shylock of the Stock Markets, lending out Money through Total Return Swaps (TRS) then dumping massive blocks on the public without any thought of the long term implications of doing so.
Who do you think bought those large blocks of shares in March?
Short Sellers.
Any attempt to make the Prime Brokers held accountable was swept away in a recurring theme that goes back to such notable market bubbles (watch The Big Short) as 2008 and 2000.
I often wonder why nobody was held accountable for the mortgage collapse of 2008 because it seems obvious that it was the short interest played a pivotal role.
The DOJ has finally woke up, but I worry they are going down the wrong rabbit hole

Yes the Short Sellers should take some of the blame, but I ask you, are they really the ones responsible for the calamity over the past 2 years?
Is this a pivotal turning point for our black sheep $VIAC?
PARA trade ideas
Back up the truck and buy!- The chart above is of Viacom's PE ratio
- Viacom is a quality company in its industry which is trading at a pretty good discount; especially given today's insanely over valued market.
- Besides a few months in 2019 where it traded in the mid single digit PE, it's never really been there for too long. It
- It also gives a 2.5% dividend yield as the cherry on top.
CONCLUSION : While the stock has been cheap from a fundamental perspective, and on my radar for a few months, technicals are finally saying its oversold with negligible downside left.
Black SheepI only started learning Finance and Markets 9 months ago so please don't take any of my ramblings as financial advice.
I am a black sheep just like VIAC here.
I got into the markets because of GME but stayed because of VIAC.
The market is vastly more complex and ruthless than I ever imagined.
It really is a virtual playground for a lifetime gamer like me.
With multiplayer pvp (player vs player) games you have to protect every scrap of resources you can while trying to survive endless dangers.
That reminds me of an Ultima Online story.
One day while practicing in-game abilities around a protected vendor, a friend & I witnessed a player dropping a pile of gold on the ground, which was more money than either of us had to our name, the player then took a step and picked up the gold and tossed it forward another step, and repeated this gold walk all the way to the bank.
We stood there in shock at what we witnessed. The player returned from the bank, only 20-30 gold steps away from the storefront, and dropped another pile of gold then started the gold walk again.
We quickly realized he was overburdened by the weight of gold he was moving from the store to the bank and that he was selling something for more money than we could imagine. We had to ask him, whats with the gold walk, tell us your secret.
He was proud to stop, a pile of gold at his feet that was heavier than either of us could carry, and explain he was robbing the store with a glitch he had found.
A glitch you say, tell us more, we would like to understand it to use it to our advantage as well. The player did not hesitate to explain in the simplest terms to us what he was doing.
He would start with the most expensive item he owned and sell it to the npc (non-player-character) in a bag. The vendor would give him the gold for the item in the bag, but return the bag with the item as well.
Brilliant. So easy we were going to be rich instantly! We quickly learned the glitch and started selling the biggest ticket items we could, deeds for land. Soon we learned vendors only carried so much gold and had to reset everyday or only had the amount of gold they were given for sales.
As we built our fortunes, others noticed, and we also shared the secret glitch with amazed onlookers as we gold walked from vendors to banks through all the cities in the game.
Soon we had a server-wide liquidity crisis and we later learned the glitch had spread to all the vendors on all the servers.
You couldn’t sell anything to a vendor because they never had any money except after a reset.
Viacom is approaching strong supportTECHNICAL
The chart above is using two forms of technical analysis. Firstly, the longterm trendline (blue color) and secondly, support and resistance zones (green color).
You can see here that the trendline has entered the support zone so these two factors should provide strong support in case the stock drops a little further.
strategy here is to go long but there is downside risk of 8-9%, hence, wouldn't go all in but dollar cost average OR buy puts to hedge yourself.
FUNDAMENTAL
On a fundamental level, the stock is currently trading at 7 P/E which is pretty cheap and is about the same level as may 2020 (coming out of the covid crash). This stock doesn't spend too much time in the sub 10 P/E so definitely very cheap and attractive plus a 2.5% dividend yield is the cherry on top.
VIACOM CBSViacomCBS Inc. is a media and entertainment company which creates premium content and experiences for audiences. The company's consumer brands portfolio includes CBS, Showtime Networks, Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, BET, CBS All Access, Pluto TV and Simon & Schuster. It operates primarily in the U.S., Europe, Latin America and Asia. ViacomCBS Inc., formerly known as CBS Corporation, is based in New York, United States.
Analysis:
Viacom is a powerhouse when it comes to media infastructure. Networks amongst the likes of Paramount, BET, MTV, Nickelodeon, etc are popular and have been around for decades. I like this company's financials and feel that they have enough cash on hand to be able to use their money where they feel is needed regardless of market conditions. On the 30 min timeframe, price is currently at a strong. I want to see strong bullish candles trading above the 200 ema for a possible entry point. I mainly do debit spread. I think if the rules apply in the near future, this could be a nice opportunity for a gain!
* Not Adivce
*I only share ideas!
Trading Idea - #ViacomCBS "easy money"BUY -> Easy money!
ENTRY: 38.90 USD
TARGET: 43.67 USD (11% profit)
STOP: 37.19
1.) Viacom CBS was forced to sell its Chinese Tech-Stocks as well as the US Entertainment Industry Stocks!
2.) This resulted in a more than 60% crash!
3.) The bottoming seems to be finished and consolidated! There's only one way to go! Up!
VIAC - Finding Support VIAC having run up a mountain to fall off a cliff is finding long term support on the 50ma and trending just under the 200ma. Its almost as if the mountain didn't happen, and price could well continue on up and find a rally down the road. That recent little impulsive pop through the 200ma shows where price wants to go I think.
Not advice.
