VARTA AG engages in the research, development, production, sale, and marketing of micro batteries and energy storage solutions. It operates through the following segments: Micro Batteries, Lithium-Ion CoinPower, Consumer Batteries. Energy Storage Systems, and Other. The Micro Batteries segments includes hearing aid batteries. The Lithium-Ion CoinPower segment represents the business with small lithium-ion round cells for OEM applications. The Consumer Batteries segment focuses on household batteries, rechargeable batteries, chargers, portable power, and lights. The Energy Storage Systems segment manufactures energy storage systems for private households. The Other Segment includes the business areas: Lithium-Ion Battery Packs and Lithium-Ion Large Cells. The company was founded by Adolf Müller in 1887 and is headquartered in Ellwangen, Germany.
