In Angola, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures the change over time in the cost of a fixed basket of 240 goods and services. The most important components in the CPI is Food and Non Alcoholic Beverages (56 percent of total weight). Miscellaneous Goods and Services account for 7 percent; Transport for 7 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuel for 5 percent and Furniture, Household Goods and Maintenance for 5 percent. The index also includes: Communication (4 percent); Clothing and Footwear (4 percent); Health (3 percent); Restaurant and Hotels (3 percent); Education (3 percent); Recreation and Culture (2 percent) and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (2 percent).
