About Brazil Cash Reserve Ratio
In Brazil, the reserve requirement rate is the minimum percentage of customer demand deposits (funds in checking or current accounts) that commercial banks must hold in reserve, either in their vaults or with the Central Bank of Brazil. This tool is a key component of Brazil’s monetary policy, used to control liquidity in the financial system, influence interest rates, and stabilize the national currency, the Brazilian Real (BRL).
