ILMN - Long term bullish scenario confirmedI've already outlied in detail the short-term bullish thesis with target 440, as well as the longer term one with target 655; see my previous posts, they are still 100% valid. Yesterday's decisive breakout of the almost 2 year consolidation is just the last piece of solid evidence for the bullish case, and, in my opinion, the nail in the coffin for ILMN bears. You DON'T want to be short this one; as a matter of fact, I may be even looking to increase my exposure. The 200 dma is just starting to turn UP; have a look at the-long term chart and you'll see that this fact alone has always heralded massive gains. Full disclosure: long ILMN at 1% of total asstes. Will bump it up to about 1.5% today, unless the stock gaps up sharply, in which case I'll wait for a pullback to a short-term ema.

ILLUMINA (ILMN) potential breakout over resistance $372ILMN is one of the highest conviction picks by ARKK investments (ARKK). They invest in disruptive technology that could potentially change the world. Another pick Invitae(NVTA) has a similar pattern and broke out recently. Level exhaustion at the $372 level and a potential accumulation zone. A daily close above 372 would be bullish. An overall bullish sentiment with the price well above the moving averages. Some key metrics I looked at, 3Y revenue growth: 13.89% ROIC: 14.22% P/CF: 48.54 P/S: 15.48 DCF value: $162 (Simply Wall street) PEG: 2.2X Future growth: 26.8% Historical growth: 17.6% Rule of 40 = net margin + revenue growth = 29+13= 42 (42>40, OK) Potential tailwinds, - Leader by market share (More than 90%) - Relatively new industry - Covid19 accelerating genome revolution and health trends - The decline in cost curve

ILMN 20 year trend analisys yields 655 target in two yearsThe last 21 months have seen a wide volatile consolidation within 19 year rising channel. Ultimately, upside breakout is only a matter of time. The fundamentals for this company are just great. Let's be conservative and assume that the resistance drawn from 2000 highs (black trendline) will prevent prices from EVER reach rising channel resistance again. Even so, 2.618 fib extension of the July '19 - March '20 bear market\correction can be reached by May 2022 (red line at 655). IF thet black trandline is broken in the future, ILMN will reach 655 much sooner and ultimately run much higher. Intermediate targets along the way: 440 (se my other post); 481 is the 1.618 fib extension; finally, if we consider the daily lows of Feb '18 and March '20 at 209 as a double-bottom, and the highs of July '19 as the breakout point, we get a measured target of 547. All this targets and breakout points are calculated based on DAILY closes, even if the chart posted is weekly. Full disclosure: currently holding ILMN at 1.1% of total assets with no stop. Will increase exposure should there be a great entry point. In that case, an update will follow.

ILMN bulls strike back at resistence! Is 440 next?Over the last 21 months, ILMN reached the 367 - 378 resistence zone twice. Each time it marked an all-time-high, and each time prices fell apart immediately and quite dramatically (big red arrows). In the very last weeks, it has reached this hot price zone again, only this time prices fell for just two weeks, then bulls stept up mightily to defend crucial support at 336 (green arrow), quickly bidding ILMN back to previous highs. This is a very exciting change in price action from the two previous tops! The battle is fierce, with longs hoping for an acsending triangle breakout, while short sellers are hell-bent on having prices double or triple topping (orange arrows). Thursday's action was somewhat ominous, with the strong opening being faded back below resistence, forming a daily shooting star doji. NOT what you want to jump in and buy as a long! If weakness continues, it will be very important to se if ascending triangle support around 357 holds. This triangle points to 411, from which prices could very quickly fulfill the inverted H&S' final target just shy of 440. While I believe this target will ultimately be reached, ILMN is facing heavy resistence after a 78%, 3 month run... It could potentially fail again. In my next analysis, I'll look at the long-term picture for ILMN, and try to explain why MUCH higher prices are possible over the next years (550 to 650 USD). Took profits on half of my original position on April 16; I may increase exposure again by 0.5%, but only with an optimal risk\reward technical setup. Which IMO is NOT right now. ILMN - will it finally break the resistant?Illumina, Inc. ILMN has been gaining from robust segmental growth and increased demand for its products. The company’s focus on partnerships and worldwide expansion to drive growth are expected to contribute further. However, stiff competition and a tough funding environment remain concerns. Over the past three months, the Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) stock has outperformed its industry. The stock has gained 30.4% compared with the industry’s growth of 18.6%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 rallied 14.4% in the same time frame. The renowned life sciences company, which has a market capitalization of $52.93 billion, provides tools and integrated systems for analysis of genetic variation and function. The company projects 11% growth for the next five years and expects to maintain strong segmental performance. Further, it has a trailing four-quarter positive earnings surprise of 19.3%, on average.
