Earnings 12-1 BMOLooks like a Rectangle with another support level inside that was tested today. Possible small symmetrical triangle that is almost an ascending triangle with a flat top line, but not quite. There is a slow sloping down of the top trendline. Long Legged Doji at support/ representing some indecision. Earnings soon and it looks as if DG is expected to do well. Tough to buy a security when earnings so close. Short interest low at about 1.67%. No recommendation.

Trading within the Channel formation. The bias is to break to the downside. A break of support at 244.00 should lead to a more aggressive move lower towards 220.00. Retail leader $DG with tight baseDollar General is a huge discount retailer that plans to get even bigger. After a nasty island reversal in May, NYSE:DG has recover very well. This tight action in price has caught my eye and today is making an inside bar with pivot buy at $256.10. You can even say that is forming a cup & handle. The bad thing is that it publishes earnings next week so, expect volatility. But, as the I like this base, I'll buy half a position and wait confirmation with a breakout above $262.50. NASDAQ:DLTR is another retail leader that is making the same pattern.

Shorting DG I opened a short position in DG this morning and am sharing my basic plan. To me this seems obvious. DG is a value store though and if this is truly a recession, which I am not convinced of, would be the only reason this trade fails. Like anything manage risk but this seems obvious to me. Am adding more if it goes higher. Use SL you feel comfortable with. Just give it some room though. This is in serious need of correction. Sorry this is a bit rushed but wanted to get it out as fast as possible.

Symmetrical TriangleNeutral pattern until a trendline is broken with a confirmed trend in that direction. Price appears to be consolidating right now so a move may come soon. The longer term moving averages look good compared to most stocks in the market. These longer term averages lag price significantly. The 50 DMA is over price and causing resistance today. It should be under price. The shorter term moving averages in the Alligator indicator follow price more closely and they are in order, red on top, white and blue on bottom, but a bit on the flat side suggesting consolidation. They are not tangled. Price needs to break the last high of the last leg up to avoid forming an ominous pattern. I have found this particular triangle set up has not been kind to me in the past. From my experience they break to the downside more often than not. This particular triangle pattern is often a large one and is tacked on to the Side, not the bottom, of a significant move to the downside that has recovered ground to the upside. I guess we all have our set ups we like to trade. Time will tell. DG should do well during a recession and I may be paranoid. )o: The latest move down formed a double bottom which would be a critical area of support. The gap below is also critical re is also a gap below that may provide support. I will watch for now. You can measure the wide end of a triangle and project it up or down from the trendlines to get a guesstimate of where price may go. If it breaks down, then the measure would be from the top sloping trendline and projected downward and vice versa. There are more than one way folks measure triangle targets and you may have a different method. The white dotted lines represent this measurement. No recommendation. I guess it is through observation as well as trial and error that I learn the hard way.

A SILENT BUILD WITH TRADE MANAGEMENT USING #DGHere I decided to quietly markup up the run Dollar General went on from Feb-Apr. I used the Daily Chart & this is purely form a Swing Trading perspective. It was indeed beautiful. I actually was releasing a webinar in March and I included an options play on Dollar General when it was at 199. I signaled 207-220 calls, with overall upside potential to 240. Dollar General over the next month or so, made a new ATH of 262! A 32% increase in share price form the time I mentioned the trade. If held, a lot of traders would have made well over 5 figures with this one swing trade alone. #DG was in a downtrend from Jan-Feb before buyers stepped up. This video simply shows how to spot the trend reversal and use the prior "Bull Traps" and "Parabolic/Climatic" selloffs as your price targets on the way back up. Trends whether up or down will ALWAYS show its hand before reversing. Your job as a trader is to spot that "tell tell sign". A Prediction based on my level of trading- Dollar General ShortThis is my analysis on Trading the Stock Dollar General and I noticed that the Stock based on its fundamentals I do think this company has it value priced in.The stock is in a motion of a roller coaster it goes to its 52 wk Highs then when it reaches said price then market makes a sell off until its previous 52 wk lows and looking at the Chart and based on its technical readings. I do see a pattern and The Stock Should continue to fall through on Friday for a quick trade or play i have no experience trading irl so i don't have capital to freely buy shares and sell but I do DayTrade Options there is ways to make money off volatility/prices changes in options Contracts but its a mathematical conclusion so if there is no volatility you can/will lose money be careful... so there might be some options price movements because of this and this is how i would make a profit on these types of market plays with my capital and limited Resorces, Hooray For ROBINHOOD!!!! The stock will move down based on this until the market decides to push the stock back up.

DG hit probable resistance on FridayBased on historical movement, the peak could occur anywhere in the larger red box. The final targets are in the green boxes. The pending bottom should occur within the larger green box as has been the historical case. Half of all movement has ended in the smaller green box. In this instance, the signal indicated SELL on March 18, 2022 with a closing price of 226.135. If this instance is successful, that means the stock should decline to at least 224.83 which is the top of the larger green box. Three-quarters of all successful signals have the stock decline 1.767% from the signal closing price. This percentage is the top of the smaller green box. Half of all successful signals have the stock decline 3.167% which is the end point of the black dotted arrow. One-quarter of all successful signals have the stock decline 4.958% from the signal closing price which is the bottom of the smaller green box. The maximum decline on record would see a move to the bottom of the larger green box. These are the same concepts for the levels in the red boxes as well. The ends/vertical sides of the boxes are determined in a similar fashion. The trough of the decline can occur as soon as the next trading bar after signal close, while the max decline occurs within the limit of study at 40 trading bars after the signal. A 0.5% decline must occur over the next 40 trading bars in order to be considered a success. Three-quarters of successful movement occur after at least 6 trading bars; half occur within 21 trading bars, and one-quarter require at least 27 trading bars. The black dotted arrow represents median historical movement. Medians are a good metric, but they are just one of many I use when forecasting future movement. As always, the stock could decline the very next bar after the signal without looking back (therefore the red boxes would not come into play) or the stock may never decline (and the green boxes may never come into play).

DG to 240Our trading system generated an entry signal on 6th Dec however with signals generated in our red price bands we wait for more suitable conditions to enter. On 14th Dec our price reversal trigger generated a signal and we entered an OTM long call in line with our strategy. In the 20th Dec, DG hit the bottom of the bullish ichimoku cloud and closed higher the next day – a bullish sign in our books. On the 22nd Dec we had a price reversal signal to the sell side. We remained in the trade however as the squeeze signal was still valid. We did receive a + signal inside our squeeze which is a confirmed ”ADD” signal. That gives us confidence that the sell off in price could reverse shortly. On 27th Dec we saw a strong shift in the ADX with the candles going from red to green and the price bands changing from red to green indicating a break out is imminent. On 28th Dec we received a long price reversal signal and on 29th Dec we added a put credit spread to our already placed long call. The overall position is now a funded trade (where we are using a credit trade to pay for a debit trade) and the combined position is up 283% as at the close of 29 Dec. We believe that DG will move towards 240 over the next 3 weeks on the back of the following bullish signals: 1) Our squeeze signal has a strong historical performance over the past 2 years 2) The B score is strongly rising with a strong ADX reading 3) Multiple long signals within the squeeze indicating further bullish momentum Some major lessons here: 1) Trade highly reliable signals – remember not all indicators are equal and based on backtesting you will be able to see which stocks perform well under certain scenarios and with certain indicators. 2) Not all assets work the same on an indicator. As a trading coach I am often faced with clients who trade one simplistic set up with mixed results, blaming themselves for their own performance where the real issue is the fact that the set up is not correct for the stock (for example, trading an 8/13 SMA crossover on all assets when the stock has a weak history of performing under that trigger…) 3) Most indicators are multifaceted and there are a number of complimentary indicators that can enhance your trading of an indicator (we use a number of proprietary tools to further enhance our understanding of the squeeze for example) 4) When trading options make sure you have the correct options strategy when trading the squeeze or any of the supporting squeeze indicators – one size does not fit all. 5) Make use of the Ghost feed tool within Tradingview to establish a performance expectation and check up on your trade daily to ensure your stops are correctly placed. 6) Your tools need to be customized to your trade style. Some indicators work really well on some time frames and not on others. Trial and error can be costly. There are number of really good free tools available on Tradingview which can help you. Trade safely!
