i'm short this print at $2.22
- P's obviously, bc i know who i'm facing off against and this thing could easily double in my face. so limiting my downside here. weapon of choice is the 9/20 2P's.
- as written about in my prior post, this thing is basically a failed media company. just because vivek got in at sub $1 (and disclosed it to you plebs near $2) doesn't mean it's worth anything close to where it's trading.
- i admit, i have no edge on the actual EPS beyond the fact that the stock has been weak, of all the memes, this is possibly the lowest quality one. and again the google trends look beyond abysmal still. abyss. abysmal. get it?

- anyway. if you own it. gl to you. in these markets who knows. sometimes a bad result gets rewarded and vice versa.
- admittedly, tis just a small hedge to my otherwise long book (though i'm close to 40% cash overall again).
lmk if you see it otherwise. happy to discuss. but emotional stuff... doesn't help anyone, best to keep the flames to your own PnL.
gl to all

BZFD trade ideas
5/13/24 - $bzfd - yuck. look elsewhere. sorry owners.5/13/24 - vrockstar - NASDAQ:BZFD - burning a post to caution here if you own this dog. i'd dump it and move on. the fact that you'ore looking at a double+ from the lows is a blessing. do a favor and look at google trends...
trends.google.com
the trends are down and to the right. they are burning cash. web 2.0 clickbait in a world of ai-generated content tiktok. it's an antiquated model. "yes" the co/ brand could be bought (is that what you're playing for?) but it's laden with debt, burns, and the trends look awful. even short interest is limited so looks like it's a slow bleed from here all else equal. caution if you own it, and probably not worth any punt into the tape unless you have a very nuanced view or want to play the meme/ breakout in the AM if the stock "beats" (whatever that would even entail is beyond me) - and that's not my discipline. as a fundamental guy with a technical overlay - this looks like a clear stay away.
probably my last comment on this ticker unless something fundamentally changes worth burning my words on. buzzing off here and gl to owners - i wish you the best i really do but fingers crossed is not a strategy i embrace. - V
Buzzfeed NewsHello friends.
We think that the announcement on the 20th that Buzzfeed News will be shutting down is very bullish since it led many unskilled retail traders to panic sell as the share price plummeted in reaction to the 'bad news'.
The reality is that this news isn't actually bad, since Buzzfeed is just consolidating its Buzzfeed news segment into its Huffpost news segment which will cut costs and allow for lower cash burn in the future. Retail investors only care about how the news makes them FEEL, however, so the news is 'bearish' as far as they care since it seems scary for 'investors'. Usually, when a lot of retail traders panic in a market all at once and the price crashes as a result, especially after a prolonged sell-off, we see a resurgence of the price in order to punish these retailers and convince some of them to buy back in at a higher price.
It's been an entire trading day since the news event occurred, so I would estimate that 90% of panicked retailers who wanted to exit the market have already done so. The effect of extreme selling that eases off as the sellers empty out is a reversal. Expect something a bit similar to the FTX-induced bottom for crypto.
Thanks for playing.
New Game. Mention AI. Win 200% + Stock IncreaseBuzzFeed announced yesterday that they were looking to use ChatGPT to help generate content.
Price rocketed before pulling back a little.
DEFINITELY NOT trading advice, but perhaps keep an eye out for any company announcements or general news where they talk about using ChatGPT.
I asked ChatGPT what it thought and it replied:
BuzzFeed now seeks our aid,
To help with content they have made,
Prices rocketed high in the sky,
But soon did pull back, oh me oh my!
ChatGPT's name now in the news,
Company announcements worthwhile to peruse,
Keep an eye out, but do take heed,
Trading advice this is not, but fun indeed.
