The fund is the first Canadian-listed actively managed ETF to provide exposure to the global cannabis industry. The fund invests in companies engaged in legal activities involving the cultivation, extraction, retail, and financing of cannabis. The selection process focuses on countries with positive regulatory environments and companies with positive growth and valuation metrics. The portfolio managers use a variety of tools and ratings sources to select individual securities. Most holdings are expected to be mid- and small-cap companies, but may include IPOs or private companies also. Stocks selected are from areas such as REITs, health care, hemp products, biopharmaceuticals, consumption devices and security solutions. The fund may use total return swap contracts and enter into short positions should the fund managers perceive such positions are favorable. In addition to investment risks, investors need to be aware of the ongoing regulatory risks in the industry.
