ALK, I'm taking my chances with a long position .There is definitely a possibility that spy could keep falling significantly more , there was a very weak support today but just before I started to write this, it broke support downwards . This last drop the SPY experienced was after an extremely bullish trend . The SPY does not have a good support, so definitely be careful with this idea of mine and be fully ready to accept that things could turn worse and you could lose money . Ok, now that that's said .... I think that based on ALK's charts that we should see it go up soon. This is especially supported by looking at the prior percentage drops so far since march 18th lows. My guess is also that even if SPY closes lower, that it will still manage to maintain support for the time being around the current levels . SPY has dropped about 7.1% this downtrend, which is the greatest drop experienced since March 18th lows. As a result of these factors , it only makes sense that the possibility both that SPY and ALK will be making gains next week is greater than downside risk . So , based on this, I have kept my ALK position and set a stop at 34.49. I think that although we will see more uncertainty with the formation of SPY's support , it will still hold within 2% or so of current levels before heading back up . I believe the largest risk at this time is bad news , especially if its in regard to alarming new covid infections starting again. However, at this time, it seems like that is always a threat. This is a pretty risky position, I understand that I am taking a risk of a massive gap down on Monday and you should too. That being said, I think there is more possibility for upside based on the historical percentages of drop we have recently seen during bearish runs down .

ALK, Best of top 5 airlines to buy based on fundamental study.So, not looking so much at the short term but looking at a longer term outlook... I decided to compare every single airline stock currently listed on the NYSE and came to the conclusion that Alaska Airlines, in my opinion, by in the best position as per future recovery and is also, in my opinion , undervalued at this time. Why is this you may ask ? Well, I essential compared every single airline on the NYSE and isolated the best 5 airlines by simply looking at debt , and EPS and Book per share . The airlines below were the best 5 . After separating them from the others, I took the time to compare some other fundamental metrics too . I couldn't include the original source formatting from excel so it may seem a bit jumbled but I think it's still usable for you guys. Decent P/E and the lowest debt/equity in the entire industry!! Also, low short float and the highest Book/share of the 5. LUV did make it on the list and it does have good debt metrics for the industry but its EPS is too high in comparison and it has a considerably lower book/share and its p/c is the highest of the 5. JBLUE is Good but cash per share is considerably lower than its peers. Other than that, not bad at all . This leaves SAVE and HA . They are both good bets too but are much more dependent on some cash as their debt levels are both pretty high . Having said that they both have REALLY good P/E and SAVE's book per share is very high , they could definitely prove to provide huge returns but for these last two they are more dependent on market conditions improving sooner rather than later . All pretty good picks but in my opinion ALK is the best of the bunch . That's not to say we wont see another new bottom in the airline industry in the coming months . But as for the company that will fare the best , I think it is ALK. ALK would not be my only buy out of these 5 but these 5 airlines would be the only ones I would consider buying at this time. One last thing , I did actually find a small south american based airline (sorry I forget the ticker) with little to no debt but it was very expensive and also had a very very small market cap and I didn't think it was relevant in this study nor did it seem like a good buy, so I omitted. The (Overconfident) Virgin Airlines The Overconfident Virgin Airlines (Flying High) History of "our" mysterious "Arctic Airlines" started unbelievably in the 1930’s when "someone" (ET?) came back to the airline and opened a liquor store in Alaska and the airline somehow made money flying liquor to remote Alaskan communities of maybe Eskimos who lived under one of the best spots on earth to "see" the Northern Lights?! Today Alaska Air Cargo still has one of the most extensive air cargo operations on the west coast its very surprising how much "air cargo" comes from Asia though Alaska?! This was was (however) the 1930’s and the airlines was trying to stay in business during the “the Great Depression” "aftermath" (that didn't involve corrupt algorithmic trading schemes praying on "individuals" wanting more)… back then the airline would and maybe would do “anything?” to stay in the air.. including transport liquor to people living and working in the far far North Arctic lights? Very very recently (by comparison to the 1930’s Great Depression), Alaska Airlines “purchased or consumed” a smaller San Francisco “operated" business of the well known “Virgin Airlines” with the familiar label “Virgin” on all their airplanes. (the airline isn’t really a “virgin”...) The CEO of Alaska was a bit egotistical and even decided to make the “costly” decision of stripping and repainting all the “Virgins”. In some sense Alaska chose NOT TO ALLOW “diversity” and paint instead a “eskimos” as the “leader of the new airline industry”. The company maybe felt more interested in “airline homogeneity” then “airline diversity”. So the “Virgin” disappeared. And into "thin air" almost overnight the airlines “stripped” all the logos from "their" airplanes. The “pink” “virgin” airplanes still flew for Alaska and looked really hilarious however the words “More to Love” where painted over for the price of maybe about $200,000... According to the airlines (Alaskan) history, this wasn’t the first time the Alaska Airlines purchased a “stylish” or “in-vogue” brand name, in fact "in the beginning" there were too many airlines in Anchorage Alaska and not enough demand to support them and thats how Alaska got "big" perhaps in the 1980's? However, this was 1934, when the “president of the company” sold the “name of the game” to “Star Air Service” perhaps a much better name but somehow Alaska Airlines survived? Today’s stock price of Alaska Airlines is VERY high. In an internal note to Alaska employees, CEO Brad Tilden said that passenger demand is currently about 85% below normal levels. As a result, he wrote, “our cash burn rate is currently $430 million per month, or over $14 million per day.” these numbers DO NOT MAKE SENSE.. the company makes ONLY about $700 Million A YEAR (according to a recent “Income Statement”) for an entire YEAR but looses $430 a month according to the “boss?”???? The graph you are seeing looks at the On Balance Volume as well as the Volume Price Trend which is a multiple and sum of volume. In some sense "volume" is more important then "price". There is also a money flow oscillator at the bottom which includes both the volume and price over 24 month osculations. Alaska has given everyone a “fairly pleasant and comfortable” ride at least from a “stock market perspective since about 2009. Alaska didn’t see “any” major problems until AFTER about 2017 and this was the first "really big problems" for the Arctic? and in the recent history of the company. The real "first PRICE loss of altitude" was in 2009 to 2007. Alaska started to become a medium sized company around 1981’s and a “large” company after about 1993’s and an “international player” around 2009. We will likely “not know” the truth about the airlines “affairs” until about November of 2020? (Thanksgiving?) Hope this helps you! Asher

Alaska Airlines looks ready to pop this weekAlaska is rated the second-best Airline, according to the Wall Street Journal. It is extremely undervalued, with a PEG ratio of about 0.5. News has been extremely positive for Alaska lately. In terms of technicals, Alaska looks to be right above a volume support and ready to bounce. Another way to play Alaska earnings is to diversify risk by buying the JETS ETF. Even if it misses its earnings target this week-- and it has a history of beating rather than missing estimates-- it might get a bump from raising its dividend. Alaska was one of five companies named in a Barrons article today titled "Comcast, Valero, and 3 Other Companies Expected to Increase Their Dividends Next Week." Options buyers have neglected Alaska, with most of the open options being puts, but that just means that the bullish fundamentals aren't priced in yet. I will go long on Alaska Monday morning.

The sector has had a dismal demise from 2018 and maybe its time for a sustained rally in the sector. $ALK is set to rally, bear trapped by good ER move.1. $ALK for the last few weeks was getting ready to breakout above long term resistance line. However, unknown result was keeping stock under the resistance line. Indicators however was showing more and more strength. 2. Stock currently above all MA's , 9,21, 50 100 and 200. 3. Right before earnings we had "golden cross" of 50 SMA crossing 200 SMA. $ALK rallied on that signal but was attacked the next day by shorts betting on fear before ER. 4. Now, as many institutions will re-balance their portfolios into the end of the month and move money into new positions we will see upgrades and higher prices for this solid stock. 5. Day before ER short volume was 60%. Now they have to get out and the only way out, to push it higher because is they do not cover, money inflow will force them out at higher prices. Cut your loss guys and move on.
