SP500 trade ideas
Is SP500 / US M2 Money Supply telling us a story?Historically this ratio has inflected from key levels. Last week the upper boundary of what 8 would call a normal range has acted as support. If history rhymes to dot com bubble, this AI bubble can bounce from these levels and see an increase until Q4 2026, then a sharp fall will follow. To the lower boundary of that normal range.
Detailed Technical Analysis of the S&P 500 Index – 4-Hour TimefrWhat triggered the recent movements?
As per analyst analysis, since February 20, 2025, the S&P 500 Index began a gradual decline, forming a clear downtrend that resulted in a total drop of approximately 21.14%. This sharp retreat was primarily driven by mounting investor concerns over President Donald Trump's foreign trade policies, particularly the increased tariffs on several countries, which led to widespread fear and uncertainty in financial markets, concerns about a potential global recession, slowing international trade, weakened economic growth and resurgence of inflationary pressure.
After reaching the key support level at 4798.58, its lowest point since January 2024, the index saw a brief consolidation phase, before a major market-moving development occurred: the announcement of a 90-day suspension of tariffs on selected countries by the U.S. President.
As per analyst interpretation, this event acted as a turning point, triggering a sharp rally of nearly 10% in a single session, which effectively broke the downtrend on the 4-hour timeframe and led to the formation of a new high (2), surpassing the last corrective peak (1). This confirmed a bullish reversal on the 4-hour chart.
What’s next on the 4-hour chart?
Although the index has shifted into an upward trajectory, a short-term pullback appears more likely at this stage, especially following the failure of trough (3) to break above the previous peak (2) at 5487 – a sign of weak bullish momentum.
If the price breaks below the 5107.40 level, a further decline toward the 4948.10 support level is expected. This level could serve as a potential rebound zone, where bullish traders might regain control and resume the uptrend, possibly retargeting the 5487 peak.
When is the bullish scenario invalidated?
According to analysts, the current bullish outlook would be invalidated if the price breaks below 4798.58 and confirms a 4-hour candle close beneath it. This would strongly indicate a shift in market structure from bullish to bearish, prompting a reassessment of the medium-term trend.
Important Note:
This analysis strictly reflects price action and technical patterns on the 4-hour timeframe only.
Market Outlook of S&P 500 This is a S&P 500 Weekly Chart and it’s on a perfect uptrend since the covid bottom, and on a shorter time frame, it has also broken the time frame. It has also touch the 2022 support which is around 4800.
I expect it to retest the recent bottom and maybe even a lower low, I think it can make a fib extension and retest 4250-4300.
SP500: Optimism in the markets !! No Fear !!Mr. Trump MANIPULATES THE WORLD as he pleases, and WE AS ANALYSTS have to BE COLD and be VERY ATTENTIVE to the news MORE THAN EVER!! And of course, NO FEAR.
--> What does the SP500 and the rest of the indices and stocks look like?
From my point of view, yesterday's news of granting a 90-DAY TRUCE on tariffs GIVES US THE POSSIBILITY OF UPSIDES for at least the next 2 months (ALWAYS with Trump's permission). Furthermore, we've also learned that US inflation fell to 2.4% in March, and the core rate to 2.8%, below expectations, which is VERY GOOD for the markets.
With this data and the SHARP FALLS accumulated so far this year!!, UPSIDES ARE COMING!!
Yesterday, the indices rose by nearly 10%, and it's normal for them to be falling by 5% today. If we observe the H1 chart above, the price has fallen to the 50% Fibonacci zone, meaning we are already in a good entry zone.
--> We can do 2 things:
When the price in lower timeframes (M15 chart below) shows us a bullish signal (Bull), make the long entry.
Go long in the zone between the 50%-61.8% Fibonacci (current zone).
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Strategy to follow:
ENTRY: We will open 2 long positions when the price enters the Fibonacci zone (50% - 61.8%) or when a lower timeframe chart gives us the bullish signal (Bull).
POSITION 1 (TP1): We close the first position in the 5,490 zone (+5.8%)
--> Stop Loss at 4,900 (-3.5%).
POSITION 2 (TP2): We open a Trailing Stop type position.
--> Initial dynamic Stop Loss at (-3.5%) (coinciding with the 4,900 of position 1).
--> We modify the dynamic Stop Loss to (-1%) when the price reaches TP1 (5,490).
SETUP CLARIFICATIONS
*** How to know which 2 long positions to open? Let's take an example: If we want to invest 2,000 euros in the stock, we divide that amount by 2, and instead of opening 1 position of 2,000, we will open 2 positions of 1,000 each.
*** What is a Trailing Stop? A Trailing Stop allows a trade to continue gaining value when the market price moves in a favorable direction, but automatically closes the trade if the market price suddenly moves in an unfavorable direction by 1 a determined distance. That determined distance is the dynamic Stop Loss.
--> Example: If the dynamic Stop Loss is at -1%, it means that if the price falls by -1%, the position will close. If the price rises, the Stop Loss also rises to maintain that -1% on the upside, therefore, the risk becomes lower and lower until the position becomes profitable. This way, very solid and stable trends in the price can be taken advantage of, maximizing profits
US500 (S&P 500) Sell Limit Trade IdeaBearish Daily Signals Align with Key Resistance Levels
📅 Published: 14/04/2025 14:22 | ⏳ Expires: 15/04/2025 12:00
Market Outlook
The US500 is showing signs of fatigue at higher levels. A Doji-style candle formed near the highs suggests indecision and potential reversal. Current levels are near the 50% Fibonacci pullback at 5485, an area that previously attracted selling pressure.
The 20-day EMA at 5466 and the pivotal level at 5501 reinforce this as a strong resistance zone. With no major economic events in the next 24 hours, technicals are likely to dominate near-term price action.

S&P 500 Index Goes 'Death Crossed' Again, Due To Unruly EconomyThe "Death Cross" is a technical chart pattern signaling potential bearish momentum in the US stock market, occurring when a short-term moving average (typically the 50-day) crosses below a long-term moving average (usually the 200-day).
Despite its foreboding name, historical data shows its implications are often less dire than perceived, serving as a coincident indicator of market weakness rather than a definitive predictor of collapse.
Historical Examples and Market Impact
The death cross gained notoriety for preceding major market downturns:
2000 Dot-Com Bubble: The Nasdaq Composite’s death cross in June 2000 coincided with the burst of the tech bubble, leading to a prolonged bear market.
2008 Financial Crisis: The S&P 500’s death cross in December 2007 foreshadowed the 2008 crash, with the index losing over 50% of its value by early 2009.
2020 COVID-19 Crash: The S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq 100 all formed death crosses in March 2020 amid pandemic-driven panic, though markets rebounded sharply within months.
2022 Ukraine's War Crisis: The S&P 500, Dow Jones, and Nasdaq 100 all formed death crosses in March 2022 due to proinflationary surge on Ukraine's war and Arab-Israel conflict, leading to a prolonged bear market within next twelve months, up to March quarter in the year 2023.
These examples highlight the pattern’s association with extreme volatility, but its predictive power is inconsistent. For instance, the 2022 death cross in the S&P 500—its first in two years—occurred amid Fed rate hikes and geopolitical tensions, yet the market stabilized within weeks rather than entering a prolonged downturn.
Perspectives on Reliability and Use Cases
While the death cross reflects deteriorating short-term momentum, its utility depends on context:
Lagging Nature: As a lagging indicator, it confirms existing trends rather than forecasting new ones. The 50-day average crossing below the 200-day often occurs after prices have already declined.
False Signals: Post-2020 data shows the S&P 500 gained an average of 6.3% one year after a death cross, with Nasdaq Composite returns doubling typical averages six months post-cross.
Combined Analysis: Traders pair it with metrics like trading volume or MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) to validate signals. Higher selling volume during a death cross strengthens its bearish case.
Strategic Implications for Investors
For market participants, the death cross serves as a cautionary tool rather than a standalone sell signal:
Short-Term Traders: May use it to hedge long positions or initiate short bets, particularly if corroborated by weakening fundamentals.
Long-Term Investors: Often treat it as a reminder to reassess portfolio diversification, especially during elevated valuations or macroeconomic uncertainty.
Contrarian Opportunities: Historical rebounds post-death cross—such as the 7.2% Nasdaq gain three months after the signal—suggest potential buying opportunities for risk-tolerant investors.
Fundamental Challenge
Stocks Extend Drop as Powell Sees Economy ‘Moving Away’ From Fed Goals
Powell sees economy ‘moving away’ from job, price goals due to Trump's tariff chainsaw.
Fed well positioned to wait for policy clarity. Strong jobs market depends on price stability, he adds.
Stocks extend declines, bonds rally as Fed chair speaks.
Conclusion
The "Death Cross" remains a contentious yet widely monitored pattern. Its dramatic name and association with past crises amplify its psychological impact, but empirical evidence underscores its role as one of many tools in technical analysis. Investors who contextualize it with broader market data—such as earnings trends, interest rates, and macroeconomic indicators—are better positioned to navigate its signals.
While it may foreshadow turbulence, its historical track record emphasizes resilience, with markets often recovering losses within months of the pattern’s appearance.

S&P 500 Daily Chart Analysis For Week of April 11, 2025Technical Analysis and Outlook:
During the current trading session, the Index has recorded lower opening prices, thereby completing our key Outer Index Dip levels at 5026 and 4893, as previously highlighted in last week's Daily Chart analysis. This development establishes a foundation for a continuous upward trend, targeting the Outer Index Rally at 5550, with an interim resistance identified at 5455. Should this upward momentum persist, further extension may reach the subsequent resistance levels of 5672 and 5778, respectively. However, it is essential to note that a downward momentum may occur at the very significant completion target level of the Outer Index Rally at 5550, with the primary objective being a Mean Sup 5140 and retest of the completed Outer Index Dip at 4890.
SPX: Roller Coaster Fest. Looking for a possible short? Not FA*
A lot of set ups looking like flags. Missed the move up but caught puts today for good profit. Or decent profit. I have yet to conquer on how NOT to sell too early? Anyone have any tips?
Set up I’m seeing right now (SPY/SPX): Looks to be flagging.
Green Ray for a short entry
Overall sentiment still feels very bearish. Trump seemed to postpone the tariffs to prevent this market from tanking into near *recession* touches but some say it was a manipulative swing?
So thinking we sell off Friday - as China tariff deal still yet to solidify. A lot of uncertainty overall.
Also on the 1M, the set up looks like a bear flag.
Let me know what you guys think and any insight is welcome! Still new to TA and really wanting to get better at understanding charts/levels. Goal is to be consistent in trading and profitable, very profitable.
GLHF
Could be a good time to build a longer term SPX long Potentially good reward:risk here for investors / longer timeframe swing traders or position traders
Last week was a big test for the SPX index - it tested two crucial supports
1) Retest of the 2022 highs
2) Retest of the major trendline which has held the trend for around 2.5 years now
It looks like buyers came in strong at support giving us a big bullish candle - likely forming a capitulation low.
Major pullbacks like these come only a few times a year - and if managed well can be good R:R trades.
For investors/position traders:
If the low from last week holds, any pullbacks into 5250 or lower seem like a good time to add - for a longer term hold for a few months or even a few quarters.
For traders wanting to see some clear momentum first:
The most important resistance up above is the 5600-5800 area & the 20w ema (which aligns with it currently). You might want wait for a clean reclaim of this resistance first. For investors, you could think of adding to your buys once this resistance is reclaimed strongly.
TLDR;
SPX might have capitulated
This is a decent area to start buying for a longer term hold - targeting the prior highs first and holding some into price discovery
Invalidation: if a weekly candle closes below the recent low
When to observe PA closely: test of the 5600-5800 resistance / 20w ema
Trump Tariffs - Trade War - High Volatility - Key LevelsEasy trading for 2025, right? Haha
We are seeing some of the wildest swings ever in the markets

Should we be concerned about the death cross ?So, we are at the death cross again? Should we panic? Should we sell ? What if recession is coming? Ohhhhh noo!!!!!
Stop worrying so much and most importantly, stop reading the damn news , especially the headlines that are meant to create more fear than anything! Of course, they want you to sell, how else can the algo traders, big boys scoop up the prices cheap.
It is like displaying thunders and lightning across the sky, gloomy and dark clouds to make you believe it is going to rain, a heavy thunderstorm.
We were in a bear market on 7th Apr where prices drop below 20% from the peak. However, it quickly bounced up within the next two days, especially 9th Apr where there is a 90 days pause on tariffs imposed.
So, technically we are still in a BULL market lah, guys. Focus on the chart not the emotions of the people who are sold daily by social media, influencers with benefits and whoever that wants you to believe their side of the story.
Until we enter into a bear market, we should not speculate too much nor read into the future with too much gloom and doom. I am quite confident the tariff matter will subside and blown away over time just like the real war between Ukraine and Russia (over 3 years and still fighting but who covers the news now, it is STALE and no longer sensational). Any papers or social media that gives that "expert view" on tariffs will be rewarded with likes and traffic volume, much to the content creators delight.
Stay calm, guys! In the short term, market is volatile like a voting machine but in the long term, it is a weighing machine and history has shown us over the past century or so, the market is going up.
Going in and out of the market or TIMING the market - leave that to the experts or professional traders. Your heart and mine cannot take it. Over the long term, you will be rewarded for staying in the market. Just look at Warren Buffett, many a times he bought something, the stock might goes down 10-20% or more, does he panic and starts selling? No, his biggest strength is his patience , one attributes that we all can learn from him.
Go for a run, swim or hit the gym if you are too glued to the news. Stay healthy and ensure you have a balance, diversified portfolio to protect yourself.
SPXGiven the escalating tariff pressures, it's clear that this scenario is unsustainable for any economy in the long term. I anticipate a resolution to the US-China trade issue within the next few weeks to months.
The current market correction is likely a reflection of the accumulated negative impacts from Trump's second term, and from a technical analysis perspective, further downside levels are indicated on the charts.
However, looking at the broader, four-year horizon of Trump's presidency, there are several potentially bullish factors, including tax cuts, financial deregulation, continued Fed dovishness, and the possibility of renewed quantitative easing.
Trading with Liquidity Sentiment IndicatorsJust a short introduction to trading with our indicators. I can't emphasise enough that you need to have at least 6 securities/tickers to click through to find the liquidity that fits the price action. At different times of day, different tickers are used by market makers to lay off deltas for hedging, this makes up the largest volumes in the markets, as well as the securities/tickers that you and others are trading. All these securities prices are moved around by the index they are a component of and the VIX which is made up of 30 day(dte) put IV. I will post more regularly this week reading live trading using the indicators.
The world is going crazy , who's to blame ?Unless you have been hiding in the rocks, most people would know what President Trump has done to the world at large. The social media is full of half truth, fake news and sensational news, to the advantage/motives of certain groups of people. That is why you always read it with a large dosage of salt, laugh it off and do your own critical thinking.
I know is hard, afterall, this has not happened before, at least not in the presidency of US government thus far. Most of us feel like stepping onto quick sand, a wrong move could land you much deeper than you were previously. Seeing your portfolio growing from nice chunks of profits to bloody red , oh my God ! Yes, on hindsight, we wish we could have listened to the wise guru, Warren Buffett.
Let's not get too far ahead and stay calm in this turmoil, volatile time. Deep breath........
And definitely do not lose sleep over money, health and family is more important !
Here, in the SPX 500 index, we are at a precarious position. After the 90 days pause, the market rally up but the fear remains and yesterday market proves itself. So, the first line of defence is the bullish trend line. If this breaks, then we are heading to the yellow support line. Now, this is no ordinary line, it is the weekly 200EMA indicator where in the past, each time it hits this level, the price action bounces up. Could President Trump knows TA, haha? Timing is near perfect !
Stay calm everyone ! Again, do not use margin to trade/invest no matter how attractive the market looks to you or you received a good tip from a friend. Stay with money you can afford to lose.
