The fund provides diversified exposure to Canadian bond markets. The portfolio consists of Canadian investment grade fixed income securities issued by federal or provincial governments and corporations. The fund employs a disciplined approach to manage risk in response to movements in the level of bond yields and the shape of the yield curve. The adviser actively manages the portfolio’s duration and yield curve exposure based on fundamental and technical analysis of debt markets. In addition, the adviser adjusts sector weightings and performs independent corporate credit quality assessment to optimize the fund’s risk/return profile. The fund aims for an overall weighted average credit rating of A or better, as rated by S&P or the equivalent by another major North American credit rating agency. The adviser may also employ hedging strategies to generate positive returns and/or protect the portfolio against currency fluctuations, interest rate changes, and credit risk.
