The fund focuses on dividend-paying or distribution-paying equity securities primarily in US & Canada with attractive valuations. The actively managed portfolio includes around 50-110 securities located globally. The portfolio may comprise of fixed income securities both corporate- and government-issued, ADRs, convertible debt, income trust units, single issuer equity options, preferred shares and warrants. Derivatives such forward contracts, futures contracts and swaps can also be included and up to 10% can be invested in CEFs. DXR will use leverage to generate additional income, to do this it will short sell highly liquid government bonds with known maturity dates to lock in fixed rate borrowing at an attractive rate., The funds use of leverage is capped at 50% of total assets. Foreign currency exposure may be hedged-backed to CAD at the discretion of the portfolio manager.
