It operates through the following segments: In-Class Higher Education, Distance Learning Higher Education, and Basic Education. The company was founded by Altamiro Belo Galindo, Gabriel Mário Rodrigues, Walfrido Silvino dos Mares Guia, Evando José Neiva, and Júlio Fernando Cabizuca on April 11, 1966 and is headquartered in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
