Orascom Development Holding AG engages in the provision of real estate, tourism, hotel, construction, resort management and real estate financing services. It operates through the following segments: Hotels, Real Estate and Construction, Land Sales, Destination Management, and Other Operations. The Hotels segment engages in the provision of hospitality services in two- to five-star hotels owned by the group which are managed by international or local hotel chains or by the group itself. The Real Estate and Construction segment acquires land in undeveloped areas and adds substantial value by building residential real estate and other facilities in stages. The Land Sales segment focuses on the sale of land and land rights to third parties on which the group has developed or will develop certain infrastructure facilities and where the group does not have further development commitments. The Destination Management segment offers facility and infrastructure services at operational resorts and towns. The Other Operations segment is composed of rentals from investment properties, mortgages, sports, hospital services, educational services, marina, limousine rentals, laundry services and other services. The company was founded by Samih Onsi Sawiris in 1989 and is headquartered in Altdorf, Switzerland.
