Semapa Sociedade de Investimento e Gestão SGPS SA is a holding company, which engages in the production and sale of pulp and paper products. It operates through the following segments: Pulp and Paper, Cement, Environment, and Holdings. The Pulp and Paper segment includes production and sale of writing and printing thin paper and domestic consumption paper. The Cement segment sells ready-mixed concrete, aggregates, mortars, and precast concrete. The Environment segment offers services associated with the cumulative recovery of animal by-products and food products containing animal origin substances, and the sale of the products resulting from this recovery for incorporation in the production of fertilizers, animal feed, and biodiesel. The Holdings segment refers to the services rendered by Semapa to its subsidiaries in various areas such as strategic planning, legal, financial, accounting, tax, and talent management, while incurring in payroll expenses and the contracting of specialized services. The company was founded on June 21, 1991 and is headquartered in Lisbon, Portugal.
